Getting our hike on

So one of our favorite things to do is to get out into the woods.  This morning was the perfect morning to explore (again) one of our new favorite places. It is located right in town, next to Craig's job so we usually stop in after tromping around in the woods to take Daddy out to lunch.

So here is Isaac getting ready for a morning of outdoors.  He first begins with his "I Love Bali" outfit that his uncle Matt and Aunt Melissa got him from their travels.  Can't leave home with out it!

The morning was so picturesque and calm in the woods and the birds have started to return in numbers!!  The last time we were out here an older man was making weird noises out on the trail...I was a little creeped out until he told me he was calling to the resident Barn Owl that lives in these woods.  Isaac has such a good memory that of course we have to try to replicate that same Barn Owl call when we go out to the woods.  Although I am sure we are doing more to scare off the Owl than anything else but it is a good time!  Usually we come when the owl would for sure be sleeping but it doesn't stop Isaac from trying...

And FINALLY....Caleb is out of the hiking backpack.  I still bring it in case and he gets more than his fair share of shoulder rides but he is usually saying "out" or "down" so we have started to let him hike more as well.  Here Isaac is trying to show him the ropes.

Our "lesson" for today.  The red-headed woodpeckers were out in numbers!! It was fun to pause and hear the chirping and tapping the birds were making.  We had ourselves our own natural symphony!!  So Isaac learned about birds and woodpeckers today for "school".

Starting our trek home

The floating bridge is under ice...not so floating now!

Last shot.  Beautiful morning.
