No nothing feels so good. Craig and Adam arrived 2 hours later and Craig shocked everyone by jumping in fully clothed. Yes, he was ready for the water as well.
This next picture is one I love. I called them the "early morning swim crew" of Andie, Isaac, Caleb and cousin Shane. They were the first ones in the water on the whole lake. Usually right around 8:00 a.m. They woke up, ate breakfast and suited up....
Isaac really stepped up his role this year as big brother and I am super thankful for that. I love being in the water but the kids will always outlast me in length of time in the water. With some life jackets, Caleb's natural doggy paddling skills and some encouragement (pushing) from big brother, I was able to be a "lifeguard" on the sidelines more this year.
Enjoying some good cousin time with the only cousins my kids have. They really enjoyed their time with Shane and Madison this week.
Enjoying a break from being IN the water....for a few minutes.
And what is a fourth of July without lighting your own fireworks......
Here is one of my favorite recent pictures of Andie. I made these shirts for the kids (thank you pinterest) and Craig started calling her "Little Ms 4th of July". The title was perfect for Andie: 7 years old, freckles on her face, hair slightly messy from all her adventures, some scabs on her knees, jean shorts, 2 teeth missing, little Ms. All-American.
The crew: Hanging out watching the fireworks.
And of course we have to swim before the firework show begins (around 9:30/10) over the lake.
Getting later, getting ready for the fireworks. This was Caleb's first year. Last year he literally could not handle it. In any way. Could not handle the sound or staying up. This year he was pretty skittish when we were letting off fireworks in the driveway but after a few big ones on the lake he started singing "this is amazing!!" to the beat of his own little jig. Quite the turnaround in a few short hours.
Last night on the lake....trying to soak up all the lake time we can. Grandma joins in on the fun.
Year two of celebrating the 4th at Grandma and Grandpa's place. So all the pictures I took this year were of us in the lake but so many other things happened as well: bike rides, boat rides, donut shop date with Grandma and Grandpa, play time with cousins, Grandma introduced Andie to a new poetry book, we just had a wonderful time and really love being able to spend a few days here every summer. Thanks Paul and Barb for opening your amazing home, deck and dock to us!!
Monday July 7th - off to Omaha for my older brothers Wedding!!
